How to demystify Daily Notes
August 14, 2020
One of the most perplexing Roam features for new users is the Daily Notes.

One of the most liberating Roam features for users who stick with Roam for a couple of weeks is the Daily Notes.

Earlier this week, I started a thread to curate the best available demonstrations about using Daily Notes.

As a bonus, Roamans captured some terrific, very simple Daily Notes templates for those of us who need some sense of structure.

Here's a link to the thread.

If you'd like to copy and paste an even simpler template to your Metadata page, try this:
  • 🌻 [[A Line About Today]]
  • 📅 [[Meetings]]
  • 📝 [[Notes]]

The first prompt is pretty simple.

Just write a line or two about whatever comes to mind. It's how I wake up my mind every morning. A quick check in to see what flows from my brain, through my fingers, and into pixellated words.

If you're looking to automate your Daily Notes template, check out this video from one of my favorite Roam YouTubers - actually a YouTubing family, Les Kristofs.

In my next post, I'll share how I write a note to my next day self using the Block Embeds feature, and why the practice I began about 5 years ago has helped me deal with negative self-talk and loads of self-doubt.

Thanks so much for reading.
